Barba Azul - cuento en inglés
Barba Azul es un personaje de un cuento de hadas muy conocido, cuya historia ha sido contada y recontada en diversas formas a lo largo de los siglos. La versión más famosa del cuento fue escrita por Charles Perrault en 1697.
Barba Azul en inglés (Bluebeard)
Once upon a time, there was a very rich man who lived in a big castle. He had a long blue beard, so everyone called him Bluebeard. Even though he was very rich, Bluebeard had a big secret. He had been married many times, but his wives always disappeared, and nobody knew why.
One day, Bluebeard decided to get married again, and he chose a beautiful young woman to be his wife. After the wedding, Bluebeard said to his new wife:
"Dear, I am going on a long journey. Here are the keys to all the rooms in the castle. You can open any room except one small door. Promise me you won’t go in there."
The young wife promised to obey. But after a while, she became very curious and decided to open the secret door.
"I wonder what’s behind that door," she thought as she turned the key.
When she opened the door, she found something terrible: the room was full of Bluebeard’s previous wives, all disappeared. Scared, she quickly tried to close the door, but the key got stained with blood.
When Bluebeard came back from his trip, he noticed the stain on the key and knew that his wife had disobeyed him.
"You have disobeyed my one order!" he shouted angrily. "Now you must pay."
The young wife, trembling with fear, asked for some time to pray.
"Please, let me pray before anything happens," she begged.
Bluebeard agreed. While the wife was praying, she called for her brothers who lived nearby. The brothers arrived just in time and fought with Bluebeard. After a fierce battle, they defeated Bluebeard.
"Thank you for saving me!" the young wife said, hugging her brothers.
And so, the young wife inherited Bluebeard’s fortune and lived happily in the castle, always remembering that curiosity can be dangerous, but bravery and family can always help.

Había una vez un hombre muy rico que vivía en un gran castillo. Tenía una barba larga y azul, por lo que todos lo llamaban Barba Azul. A pesar de su riqueza, Barba Azul tenía un gran secreto. Se había casado varias veces, pero sus esposas siempre desaparecían, y nadie sabía por qué.
Un día, Barba Azul decidió casarse nuevamente y eligió a una joven hermosa para ser su esposa. Después de la boda, Barba Azul le dijo a su nueva esposa:
"Querida, voy a hacer un viaje largo. Aquí tienes las llaves de todas las habitaciones del castillo. Puedes abrir todas, excepto una pequeña puerta. Prométeme que no entrarás ahí."

Cuando Barba Azul regresó de su viaje, notó la mancha en la llave y supo que su esposa había desobedecido.
"¡Has desobedecido mi única orden!", gritó furioso. "Ahora tendrás que pagar."
La joven esposa, temblando de miedo, le pidió tiempo para rezar.
"Por favor, déjame rezar antes de cualquier cosa", suplicó.
Barba Azul accedió. Mientras la esposa rezaba, llamó a sus hermanos, que vivían cerca. Los hermanos llegaron justo a tiempo y lucharon con Barba Azul. Después de una feroz batalla, los hermanos lograron derrotar a Barba Azul.
"¡Gracias por salvarme!", dijo la joven esposa abrazando a sus hermanos.
Y así, la joven esposa heredó la fortuna de Barba Azul y vivió felizmente en el castillo, recordando siempre que la curiosidad puede ser peligrosa, pero que la valentía y la familia siempre pueden ayudar.
